Introduction 3.5
THE ALL-PRO TEAM
side track: I'm sure that starting this book with one of my 'side tracks' is unconventional, however this entire work probably ventures off the beaten path of conventional book writing and that is okay because there was nothing conventional about Jesus Christ. As you read this book you will find that I quote other authors very often. There are over 25 such resources listed in the bibliography and some referenced individually in the text of the book. Each one of these authors is an ALL-PRO in their own right and I encourage you to read each and every one of their works that I quote in 'Effective & Enduring Leadership … Visions of Greatness™'. At first, you may think “instead of reading this book, I'll just go and read 2 or 3 of the resources that are quoted in this book”. Yes, each of those authors is more well-known than I, but if you bypass this book you will miss the power and unique thoughts and principles that I set forth in this work. By weaving some of their ALL-PRO work into this book along with my story, thoughts, values, principles, and ideas; I have formed an ALL-PRO team and the team is always more powerful than the individual. No, I won't claim to be an ALL-PRO on the level of these other authors … I am more like the coach or facilitator for this work which I believe is God ordained.
Of course, God is the author of the most powerful written work ever done, the Holy Bible. The Bible is comprised of 66 individual books, each of which qualifies to be an ALL-PRO on its own. Almost every one of the 66 books in the Bible references the work of some of the other 65 books. Collectively, they form the single most important and powerful literary work in the history of mankind.
This book, Effective & Enduring Leadership … Visions of Greatness™, will never approach the significance of the Bible and neither will any of the works quoted herein. However, collectively I believe this book has significant and unique messages for Christianity that are both timely and timeless. I pray that this book has a positive impact on you, wherever you are in your life and whatever 'status' you have achieved, and that you can use it to further develop your leadership skills and teach others to become Disciples of Christ and Effective & Enduring Leaders™. God Bless You!
TRUE GREATNESS
All men and women have inside them the desire to become 'great' and being great will mean different things to different people. We want to be great politicians, great architects, great parents, great musicians, great athletes, great students, great pastors … and so on. The problem is that most of us confuse true greatness with worldly greatness and either do not believe we can achieve worldly greatness or have given up trying out of frustration. For non-Christians, pursuing worldly greatness is ...
